About Desert Dash
Founded in the year 2000 doing adventure races, Desert Dash has transformed to become the largest and oldest trail running company in the Las Vegas valley. Over the years we've held true to our roots of creating races that we ourselves would enjoy, in turn providing the best experience possible for our runners. The philosophy we follow for our races are to provide challenging courses in extremely beautiful trail systems and allow our runners to push themselves while still giving the support necessary to make certain everybody has a successful race.
As the current owners of Desert Dash, we are a group of brothers and friends that enjoy trail running and obstacle course races. We tend to enjoy things that most runners hate, such as running up the hardest hills we can find and then flying down them as fast as possible — always pushing ourselves to the limit physically. Along with Desert Dash, we also run Crazier Than Thou, a website dedicated to our team we organize to participate in races and events and where we do our own product and race reviews. We also have other projects in the works, so check back often!
Rob Erekson Logistics, Sponsorship & Promotion — firstname.lastname@example.org
The original runner of the family, mostly by virtue of being older than his brothers, Rob ran to stay in shape for soccer and never really enjoyed it until fairly recently. Now an avid CrossFitter, dedicated trail runner, and lover of all things ascent- and descent-related, Rob is known to be fast on tough, technical trails, but tends to zone out on the easy trails, usually falling and injuring himself. Rob's favorite place to run is on technical downhill sections, going into full kamikaze mode and letting his feet lead the way.
Rob is married with two children and works full-time as a UX Engineer for The Active Network and used to be a huge fan of McDonalds and Buffalo Wild Wings, but is now mostly zone and paleo (with the occasional cheat), fueling his body for multiple workouts per day. He is also the Web Ninja for Desert Dash.
Ryan Erekson Finances & Group Sales — email@example.com
Ryan is the health nut of the group. He loves anything physical from circuit training at the gym, running long distances on a whim, to playing multiple soccer games in one day. To support his active lifestyle Ryan sustains a deliciously invigorating diet, living by the saying, "abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym." He began his love of fitness playing sports shortly after learning to walk, which lasted until he was injured playing football in college. He is now a runner and casually competitive athlete.
Ryan is married and resides in his hometown of Henderson, NV. He is pursuing a business-related degree while being involved in numerous ventures and plans to impact vast amounts of people through the organizations and businesses he creates.
Dustin Stephens Timing & Logistics — firstname.lastname@example.org
After getting the running bug later in life, Dustin was unknowingly miserable, pounding out endless miles on the asphalt until he was met Rob and Ryan while working a side job slinging minimalist shoes (and a barefoot runner himself). Shortly after, he was introduced to the mud and trail by doing a Spartan Race followed by a Tough Mudder the following weekend. With off-trail hobbies including the geeky and mind numbingly technical variety (including at one time kludging together a wifi dongle-based timing system) and is now in charge of timing for Desert Dash, among other things.
Dustin is married and works full time as a database administrator at CB&I Federal Services. He is also an avid CrossFitter with a natural lifelong inclination to healthy eating, which fits in nicely with his other main hobby of mucking about in the kitchen, his wife being the primary test subject for his culinary adventuring.
